AREA 51 – SCHOOLS EDITION
After the Area 51 website was set up, it soon became apparent that a significant
percentage of those contacting the author were schools. Queries were frequently
made as to the existence of a “Schools Edition” of the show.
The decision was therefore made recently to create just that. To this
end, a cast of West End professionals were hired to create an even more
cutting edge, raucous and funky show than before. Matt Rawle and Leigh
Anne Stone (Grease, Fame The Musical, Cats) reprised their roles from
the concept album, and were joined by Kelly Sims (The Ratpack, Footloose,
Mamma Mia, Boogie Nights) Serena Giacomini (City of Angels, Buddy), Nicola
Bryan (Return to the Forbidden Planet, The Full Monty, Fame The Musical),
Rob Maskell (Grease, Buddy), and George Coutsoudis (Saturday Night Fever,
Blood Brothers, Fame The Musical). Tom Carradine (Blood Brothers, News
Revue) served as Musical Director. Marvel Comics and 2000 AD artists were
also hired to create a striking cover for the finished product, as well
as a 3 page comic book prequel story to the stage show itself.
AREA 51 TO OPEN IN CANADA
An agreement has recently been reached for the show to open in Canada.
