Area 51 - Glossary of terms
Area 51 - Area 51itself is perhaps the
most well known secret base in the World. Based in Dry Groom Lake, Nevada,
it takes up an area of land larger than Switzerland. Although the Pentagon
refuses to admit it exists, Russian Spy Satellites tell a different story.
People have been arrested and shot at for trying to cross its boundaries.
It has inspired many myths, rumours and conspiracy theories, most prominent
of which being that it houses secret alien technology and beings recovered
from the infamous Roswell flying saucer crash. Area 51 is very popular
in all forms of media, and has featured heavily in the plot of the Hollywood
Motion Picture "Independence Day", as a Level in the Computer
Game "Tomb Raider 3" starring Lara Croft, as 3 different nightclubs
in the United States, as a themed restaurant and shopping mall at JFK
Airport, a plot arc in the television series "The X-Files" and
a Worldwide Hit Arcade Game by Midway. There are currently two major feature
films featuring the base in pre-production, one of which is to be directed
by Star Trek`s William Shatner. "Perfect Dark", the hit game
on the N64, features Area 51 as a major part of its plot arc, and “Area
51” the computer game looks set to be the major hit of Summer 2005
on all systems, PS2, XBOX and PC-CDROM featuring voice talent such as
David Duchovny and Marilyn Manson, and a forthcoming motion picture designed
by special effects legend Stan Winston (“Aliens”, “Terminator
2”, “Jurassic Park”).
The Greys - The most commonly sighted and popular type
of alien in UFOlogy. These little Grey men have entered popular culture
in a big way, and can now be seen at Football Matches and people`s bedrooms
across the world as blow-up toys, and also in television series such as
"Dark Skies", "Invasion: Earth" and "The X-Files"
as well as films like "Communion" and "Close Encounters
of the Third Kind". In fact, the Greys have very much become an entertainment
industry all to themselves, and even boast their own designer label, Schwa,
and club-culture accessories.
Cammo Dudes - Slang Term for anonymous Security Personnel
who patrol the base. They employ attack helicopters, Land Rovers and Automatic
Weapons.
Rachel - Nearest town to Area 51, where those who have been caught trespassing
are detained at the Local County Jail..
Men in Black - Known as MIB, these mysterious strangers
threaten witnesses to paranormal events, warning them to remain silent
through threats of violence. Opinion is split as to whether they are part
of a secret government agency that monitors alien activity on earth, or
whether they are, in actual fact, aliens themselves, or something entirely
different and possibly even more disturbing. They have, of course, recently
been made famous by the “Men in Black” films starring Will
Smith.
